Young Fife rocker becomes a TV hit in Spain

Young rocker Lennon Garcia, originally from Fife, has become an overnight star in Spain.

The kilted 12-year-old, who is half Scottish, half Spanish, produced a headbanging performance on the talent show ‘Idol Kids’.

His rendition of the AC/DC classic ‘Highway To Hell’, prompted all three judges to reach for the golden buzzer.

Lennon, whose family moved from Anstruther to Madrid when he was just six, is now straight through to the semi-finals of the popular Telecinco show – the Spanish equivalent to The Voice Kids.

Lennon, named after John, said, “The judges loved the fact I was wearing my kilt and sporran. I always wear them when I am performing, as I just love being half-Scottish.

“I miss Scotland a lot, especially my relatives and all the beautiful scenery.

“My Scottish grandma couldn’t see the programme on her TV but we sent her a video and she was crying as she was so proud and happy.

“I love music with a passion and would love to have a career as a rock musician.

“If I don’t make it in the music business, I would like to become a musical instrument maker. Whatever I do, I want to make both my countries – Scotland and Spain – proud.”
