Man appears in court following incident in Ballingry

 

A 31-year-old man has appeared in court following an incident in Ballingry yesterday. 

Part of the village was cordoned off and armed police were called to the scene in Kirktoun Street during an incident which lasted for many hours. 

John Mullen, of Kirktoun Street, appeared on petition in private at Dunfermline Sheriff Court today. 

It is alleged that on 23rd October at Kirktoun Street, he assaulted a man by striking him on the head to his injury with an unknown implement. 

He is also accused of repeatedly shouting, swearing and making threats of violence. 

It is also alleged that he obstructed two officers, refused them entry to his home and placed barricades over doors to prevent access. 

Mullen also faces charges over an incident on 8th October. It is alleged that at Navitie Park, Ballingry, he was unlawfully in possession of a baseball ball, repeatedly struck a window with it, repeatedly kicked a door and made threats of violence. 

Mullen made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
