Jail for Fife man who grew 29 cannabis plants

A Fife man, who was caught growing 29 cannabis plants in his home, has been jailed.

Kenneth McKean (41), of Dalbeath Crescent, Cowdenbeath, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He previously admitted that between 21st July and 6th October at his home he produced a controlled drug, cannabis.

He committed the offence after being put on a drugs treatment and testing order.

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said her client had a “lapse” and had returned to taking drugs.

He had also been seeking help for his debt problems but this had not proved successful.

However, he hoped to re-engage with the DTTO upon his release from custody, she added.

Sheriff Craig McSherry jailed McKean for eight months.
