Witness appeal after woman (38) dies in Fife crash

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman died in a crash at Saline yesterday.

The tragedy occurred at around 10am. A 38-year-old woman sustained fatal injuries after her Vauxhall Astra was involved in a collision with a trailer, which was being towed by a Land Rover Discovery.

Emergency services responded to the scene but despite the best efforts of the Scottish Ambulance Service, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Inquiries into the full circumstances surrounding the collision are ongoing and anyone with information is asked to come forward.

Sergeant Ewan Pearce, from the Road Policing Unit in Fife, said, “Tragically, this incident has resulted in the female driver of the Astra sustaining injuries, which she could not recover from. Our thoughts and sympathies are with her family at this time.

“We are still in the process of trying to establish exactly what has happened during the collision and would urge any motorists who were on the road at the time, and can assist with our inquiries, to contact police immediately.”
