Visitor to Fife sent to jail for street assaults
A visitor to Dunfermline, who assaulted a man and woman in the street, is behind bars after the violence was captured on CCTV.
Offshore worker Daniel Mallet, from Country Durham, became involved in a street altercation outside Life nightclub, which continued up Kirkgate.
Mallet (27), of Barton Close, Newton Aycliffe, admitted that on 4th June at Kirkgate, Dunfermline, he assaulted a man under provocation by punching him on the head whereby he fell to the ground, kicked him on the body and punched him on the head to his injury.
He also admitted assaulting a woman by kicking her on the body to her injury.
Depute fiscal Alex Piper showed Dunfermline Sheriff Court the video of the incident which occurred at around 3.15am, starting outside the Life nightclub.
Mallet is seen attacking the first victim twice and then kicking the woman.
Defence solicitor Sarah Meehan said her client worked offshore as a rope access painter.
After seeing the CCTV, Sheriff Craig McSherry told Mallet, “It’s my intention to impose a custodial sentence so I’m going to remand you in custody.”
He called for reports and Mallet will be sentenced on 14th December.
