Fife sex offender sentenced for indecent images
A Fife man has been sentenced to unpaid work after indecent images of children were found following a raid on his home.
John Oates (53), of Beech Cottage, Donibristle, Cowdenbeath, was back in the dock of Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He carried out the offences over a period of almost a year.
Oates previously admitted that between 23rd March 2017 and 20th February last year he downloaded indecent photographs of children.
Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf told the court that police were granted and executed a search warrant at Oates’ home after receiving information.
Devices were removed and were found to have indecent images and videos including in the most serious category.
Sheriff Craig McSherry imposed a community payback order with 12 months’ supervision and 140 hours of unpaid work.
Oates has been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
