Snow brings chaos to Fife roads

Heavy snow showers have caused hazardous driving conditions in Fife throughout the day.

The ice and snow is also proving dangerous for pedestrians trying to negotiated untreated pavements.

A heavy snowfall at lunchtime caused traffic chaos in Dunfermline town centre with vehicles struggling to make it up the New Row and along other main roads for a period.

There were further heavy showers starting during the evening rush hour.

There are more snow showers expected in Fife tonight after the weather warning was upgraded.

The forecast is for heavy squally showers of snow to continue tonight, although perhaps more of sleet and hail near some coasts. Over the hills, snow will drift in the strong to gale force winds. A gradual improvement is likely tomorrow.

We use to have winter a lot worst than this happen and cope better. Now a little snow and everything stops. Why is this. One fact may be that I have been waiting on winter tyres since November and still not arrived. The other hand with all the budget cuts, are the roads being look after as before. The infrastructure needs to be improved in several ways to make us cope better in the winter in the future. Maybe this is to much to ask for in this day and age.
