Fife man threatened with knife and robbed by intruders

A Kirkcaldy man was threatened with a knife and robbed in his own home in a terrifying ordeal.

Intruders burst into his home and robbed the man. A jury trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard evidence they had been looking for drugs.

One of those involved, Simon McCormack (38), a prisoner at Perth, has been jailed for four years after being found guilty.

He had denied that on 3rd August at Victoria Mansions, Kirkcaldy, while acting with others, he assaulted a man by brandishing a knife at him and robbed him of an Xbox games console, a bank card and a rug.

The trial was shown CCTV of a car pulling up outside the victim’s ground floor flat at around 11.25am with McCormack and two others leaving the vehicle and entering the block.

They left but shortly afterwards returned on foot, also captured on CCTV. Depute fiscal Alex Kirk said this was when the attack occurred.

Sheriff Charles MacNair jailed McCormack for four years.
