Woman knocked unconscious outside Fife nightclub

A woman remained unconscious on the way to hospital after being assaulted by another female outside Lourenzo’s nightclub.

The victim was slammed against a wall by Chloe Mitchell (19), of Leishman Drive, Dunfermline.

She appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court and admitted that on 14th October at Lourenzo’s, St Margaret Street, she assaulted a female by pushing her into a wall, whereby she fell to the ground and was rendered unconscious.

Depute fiscal Dev Kapadia said there had been an incident in the nightclub and as a result, Mitchell and others had been put out by staff.

The victim and Mitchell had been involved in this incident and once outside the assault occurred.

“The accused was seen running towards the complainer who was knocked against a wall with force,” said the depute.

“The complainer was on the floor and unconscious as a result, making gurgling noises.

“A steward and street pastor assisted her while police and the ambulance service were contacted.

“The woman remained unconscious on the way to hospital, where a CT scan was carried out.

“At a later date, she returned to hospital with blurred vision and was given an appointment with an eye specialist at Queen Margaret Hospital.”

Defence solicitor Roshni Joshi said her client was a first offender and was intoxicated at the time.

Sheriff Pino di Emidio commented that people have died as a result of a single blow in similar incidents.

He said, “In that case, it could have been a charge of culpable homicide and that’s five years in jail.”

He imposed a community payback order with 120 hours of unpaid work.
