Violent thug who attacked pregnant woman jailed for 18 months

A violent thug, who carried out a series of vicious assaults on two former partners, has been jailed for just 18 months.

Josh King, from Dunfermline, repeatedly attacked one partner when she was pregnant. This included punching, kicking, standing on her, dragging her down the street by the hair and throwing her down stairs.

King (22), formerly of Islay Road, is currently in jail for another vicious assault on a 13-year-old boy. His latest 18-month term will begin at the end of his present sentence.

He appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court after previously admitting a catalogue of sickening domestic abuse over several years.

On 24th August 2012 at Leishman Drive, Dunfermline, he assaulted his partner, then pregnant, whilst she was wearing a sheet, seized her by the wrists, pulled her out of the front door, dragged her by the wrists, causing the sheet to fall off, dragged her by the hair and repeatedly slapped her on the head and body.

On an occasion between 1st June 2012 and 30th March 2013 at Rex Park and Elliot Street, both Dunfermline, he assaulted the woman, then pregnant, repeatedly seized and dragged her by the hair, repeatedly pushed her causing her to fall to the ground, repeatedly stood on her body and walked over her, seized her by the hair, pulled her to her to her feet then threw her back to the ground, repeatedly punched and kicked her, pushed her partially over metal railings and threatened to throw her over them.

On an occasion between 1st June 2012 and 3rd March 2013 at McClelland Crescent, Dunfermline, he assaulted again assaulted her when she was pregnant, repeatedly seized her by the throat, threw her down a flight of stairs, shouted at her and pinned her against a wall by the throat.

On 10th May 2013, at Jokers, Hospital Hill, Dunfermline, he assaulted her by pushing her on the body causing her to fall, punched her on the face, seized her by the hair, pulled her out of a taxi and repeatedly punched her on the head and body.

On an occasion between 1st September 2016 and 28th February 2017 at Westwood Place, Dunfermline, he assaulted a second partner, seized and pulled her by the clothing and struck her to the head to her injury.

In August 2012, the first partner was two months pregnant and was at home applying fake tan when King arrived there drunk.

She answered the door with a sheet wrapped around her. He grabbed her and pulled her out of the house and along the street, witnessed by neighbours who called the police.

King continued to drag her by the hair and the sheet around fell off.

The next incident occurred following a party in Dunfermline. As they walked home, the woman was viciously attacked by King who threw her phone away.

The woman was concerned for her unborn child saying, “Think about the baby”. King responded by grabbing her hair, throwing her to the ground, then dragged her by the hair, pushed her on to railings and threatened to push her over them.

On another occasion when she was still pregnant, King threw her down a flight of stairs and she was so terrified that she barricaded herself in a bedroom.

King also pulled her out of taxi and punched her in the face after she had attended her friend’s party at Joker’s pub.

The second victim had her nose burst when King struck her in the face.

Defence solicitor Alexander Flett said his client was “very young at the time of the offences”.

Sheriff Charles MacNair told King, “These offences involved very significant violence over a prolonged period and what is particularly worrying they took place when one of the victims was pregnant. You then entered another relationship and assaulted your new partner.”

King is currently behind bars having been jailed last year for 28 months for a vicious street assault on schoolboy. Sheriff MacNair also commented on that incident describing as “horrendous”.
