TRAINEE COP’S SEX ASSAULT AND RACIST RANT – ALL AT POLICE HQ BAR

A trainee cop sexually assaulted another probationer and went on a racist rant, all at the bar in Police Scotland’s headquarters.
Connor Smith’s racist rant was triggered by seeing someone going to a mosque wearing prayer robes.
The would-be policeman then talked about “sucking d***” at prayers and shooting Pakistanis, disgusting his fellow probationers.
The incident took place in a smoking area at the Copper Lounge bar, on the police HQ and training centre complex at Tulliallan Castle.
Smith then went back into the bar and sexually assaulted a female probationer, leading to his arrest.
When Smith, 30, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court, his address was given as the Police Scotland professional standards office in Aberdeen.
He admitted that on 5th August at the Police Scotland College, Tulliallan Castle, Kincardine, he sexually assaulted a female by placing his arms around her and kissing her lips.
He also made abusive remarks towards a man, repeatedly made inappropriate, sexual and abusive remarks towards a male and two female colleagues, while acting out sexual activities and acts of violence.
Depute fiscal Amy Robertson said a group of three probationers had gone to the Copper Lounge bar.
At around 10pm, the man and two women went outside to the pub’s smoking area and they were joined there by Smith shortly afterwards.
As they stood talking, a man walked past wearing long white prayer robes on his way to a local mosque.
On seeing him, Smith began saying that his ex-partner was a Muslim.
All three colleagues knew Smith was openly gay man and he then made the comment, “If I was a Muslim, they would have to shoot me, drown me and behead me.”
He said he could never go to a church because all he would be thinking of was “sucking d***”.
Smith then began to imitate praying while pretending to perform oral sex.
“The others felt awkward and said the comments were inappropriate,” added the depute.
However, Smith continued on his rant, shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ (God is the Greatest) while thrusting his hips and holding up his hands, imitating having sex.
He said, “If I keep shouting ‘Allahu Akbar’ then the firearms officers are going to come here.”
Next, he pretended he was shooting a gun, shouting, “Paki one down, Paki two down”.
The other members of the group were “disgusted” by his behaviour and went back inside the bar.
Smith followed them in, shouting, “I’m not a racist”. One of the female probationers was so upset she was crying and they decided to report the matter to a sergeant at the training centre.
When Smith went back into the pub he sat down next to another female probationer he knew from training and had been a friend up to then.
When he sat next to her, without warning he put his arm around her shoulders, pulling her towards him and kissed her on the lips.
The trainee later described her reaction, saying she had felt “frozen, embarrassed and angry”.
She got up to leave and another person at her table asked if she was okay.
She replied, “No, not really, he’s just sexually assaulted me.” She reported the incident and Smith was arrested.
Sheriff Susan Duff called for reports and put Smith on the sex offenders register. He will be sentenced on 31st October.
