PERV (32) TARGETED YOUNG SCHOOLGIRL ONLINE
A 32-year-old Dunfermline man, who sent sexual images to a 14-year-old girl he targeted online over an eight-month period, has been sentenced to unpaid work.
William Brown, of Priorwood Drive, appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.
He previously admitted that between 1st June 2023 and 31st January last year, he sent a sexual communication to a girl under the age of 16 by sending Snapchat messages of a sexual nature.
He also admitted that between 1st November 2023 and 31st January last year, he sent sexual images to the same girl.
The court was told the girl was 14 years old at the time and not known to Brown.
He initially sent her a Snapchat message, ‘Hi’.
He sent a later message saying, “I’m horny” and she ignored this.
She tried to block contact by deleting him but he asked her to add him again. She did not respond.
He then sent her nude pictures of a male body holding a penis and again she did not respond.
There was no contact for a lengthy period but just before Christmas 2023 he sent her another photo of a male holding his penis.
He asked, “Are you alone?” then sent another penis photo.
Into the new year he continued to send messages including one apparently of him in a band. The girl asked questions about this as she was trying to find out information about him to report him to police.
Brown sent a message to the girl saying, “I might drive up to your house” and she told him not to do so.
He later told her he was outside her house “with my c*** in my hand”.
The girl looked outside and sent a message saying “leave me alone” then blocked him again. She told her mum and the police were contacted.
Sheriff Mark O’Hanlon said it was a “concerning” case telling Brown, “The conversation between you and a 14-year-old child seems to be something you desired and continued with.”
He imposed a community payback order with 200 hours of unpaid work and three years of supervision. Brown was put on the sex offenders register for the same period.
