“Not impressive”: Fife man sentenced for sending penis photo

A Fife man has been sentenced for a sending a photo of his penis to a woman he did not know.

The woman was trying to sell a pair of shoes via social media when she attracted the unwanted attention of Stephen Brown.

He asked the woman to send him an image of her feet then followed this up by sending her a photo of his penis.

Brown, 60, of Park Road West, Rosyth, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He previously admitted that on 3rd August he intentionally caused a woman to look at a sexual image by sending her an image of his penis.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf previously told the court the woman involved was in her 40s and lives with her daughters. She has a Facebook account and regularly sells items via a page called Facebay Fife.

Last July she had put up a post for a pair of shoes she wanted to sell.

On 2nd August she received a message from someone called Stephen Brown asking about the shoes and he arranged to pick up the items from her house.

The next day the woman received another message from Brown saying he had been to her door but there was no reply.

He said he would not be going back and had changed his mind about the shoes.

However, at 4.15pm there was another message from him asking if the shoes were still for sale.

Brown also asked the woman if she would send him a photograph of her feet.

The woman did not reply to this and Brown then sent a photo of his penis.

The depute went on, “She responded to this by posting, ‘That’s not very impressive’.”

The police were contacted and they were granted a warrant to search Brown’s home where they took possession of his mobile phone.

When interviewed by officers Brown admitted he had the penis photo on his phone but said he must have pushed a button and sent it “by mistake”.

However, Sheriff Craig McSherry said from reading the reports it did not appear to have been a mistake. “The woman certainly wasn’t impressed,” he added.

Defence solicitor Elaine Buist said, “He’s finding it very, very difficult to accept. He’s quite confused. He’s mortified.”

Sheriff McSherry imposed a community payback order with 12 months’ supervision. Brown has also been placed on the sex offenders’ register.
