Female shop worker fought off would-be robber

A 34-year-old man has been arrested and charged following an attempted robbery at a Levenmouth shop.

At around 10.40 am yesterday morning, a woman was working at the Premier Express store in Chemiss Road, Methil, when a male entered and demanded money.

A struggle followed and the shop assistant fought off the male, who then fled from the scene.

Police attended and a 34-year-old was subsequently detained at an address in Kirk Park.

He is scheduled to appear at Kirkcaldy Sheriff Court today.

Constable David Birrell from Methil Police Station said, “Thanks to the bravery of the shop assistant, this robbery attempt was unsuccessful and a male is now in custody.”
