There were two Romanian translators with the pair in the dock during the trial.

They were both accused of a charge that on 21st October 2023, at Viewfield Terrace, Lumphinnans, whilst acting with another, they assaulted a female.

The jury decided that David Stancu pursued his former partner at speed in a car, seized her by the hair and pulled her from the vehicle she was in.

He then dragged her along the road and abducted her, forced her into their car, held her down, drove away with her inside the car and detained her against her will.

The crime was domestically aggravated.

After the conviction, David Stancu’s solicitor Amy Harley said her client was no longer in contact with his ex-partner and believes she is now living in Manchester.

Sheriff Krista Johnston called for reports and Stancu will return to court for sentencing on 18th June.
