FORMER PARS BOSS JIMMY CALDERWOOD DIES

Former Dunfermline Athletic and Aberdeen manager Jimmy Calderwood has died aged 69.

Calderwood was diagnosed with early onset dementia in 2017, three years after his last managerial post with Dutch side De Graafschap.

The Glaswegian was manager at Dunfermline for five years.

He led them to promotion from the Scottish second tier in 2000 and guided them to a fourth-place finish in the top flight four years later.

He also led them to the Scottish Cup Final in 2004, losing 3-1 to Celtic.

He passed away in the early hours of this morning with devoted partner Yvonne Buchanan and her two daughters by his side.

Heartbroken Yvonne said: “What can I say? I’ve lost the love of my life to a very cruel disease.

“We shared so many special moments together, especially with my children – Mark, Carla and Jolana – and we are all devastated.”
