Fife man in court on attempted rape charge

 

A Dunfermline man has appeared in court charged with an attempted rape in the town centre. 

Alan Laidlaw (36), of Victoria Terrace, appeared on petition today at Dunfermline Sheriff Court facing a string of charges. 

It is alleged that between 5th and 7th August in Canmore Street, he assaulted a woman, seized her by the hair, restricted her breathing, removed her clothing and attempted to rape her. 

He is also accused of assaulting and robbing a man who had used the ATM at Santander in Dunfermline High Street on 5th to 6th August. 

Laidlaw is also accused of committing sexual offences in the town centre last weekend. 

It is alleged that on 2nd September at Tappie Toories pub he repeatedly made sexual remarks towards a woman and behaved in an aggressive manner. 

It is also alleged he sexually assaulted this female. 

It is further alleged that on 3rd September at Carnegie Drive he sexually assaulted another woman. 

Laidlaw made no plea, was committed for further examination and remanded in custody.
