Thieves steal five-figure sum at golf championship in Fife
A five-figure sum of cash was stolen when thieves struck at Women’s British Open golf championship at Kingsbarns.
The money was in a safe which stolen from the Fife course during the tournament.
Police say that some time between 8.15pm on Saturday 5th August and 6am the next morning a Portacabin was broken into and a safe containing the five-figure sum of cash stolen from inside.
Over the past week officers have been working closely with staff at the course to identify those responsible and are pursuing a number of lines of inquiry.
Detective Inspector Graham Fenton, of North East Fife and Levenmouth CID, said, “The Portacabin was being used in connection with the Women’s British Open tournament and as a result the safe contained a significant sum of money.
“We are eager to hear from anyone who remembers seeing any suspicious activity around Kingsbarns Golf Course last weekend, or anyone who can assist with our ongoing investigation.”
