Man sentenced for sexual assault in Fife village
A 24-year-old man has avoided a jail sentence for sexually assaulting a woman in Culross.
The incident occurred after the victim offered to give him a lift home.
She gave evidence on the assault during the first day of a trial at Dunfermline Sheriff Court last month.
On the second day, Jonathon Howison-Hood (24), of Barbara Stocks Lane, Culross, submitted a guilty plea.
He admitted a charge that on 24th January last year at Gallows Loan, Culross, he assaulted a woman by seizing her neck and then sexually assaulted her.
Sheriff Craig McSherry had deferred sentencing for reports.
When Howison-Hood returned for sentencing, he was put on a community payback order with 300 hours of unpaid work and 12 months of supervision.
He was also put on the sex offenders’ register for 12 months and ordered to pay £750 compensation to the victim.
